$1,000 Sustainability Award Scholarship Opportunity
2014 is the inaugural year for the Sustainability Awards Luncheon slated to held on Friday, August 15th. The event has the potential not only to spread the good word about Scouting’s commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship but also highlight efforts being made in the for-profit realm by companies who are going the extra mile to conserve precious natural resources and create new and innovative ways to harvest energy.
In addition to a corporate honoree, there will be a presentation of an award to at least one youth honoree. The youth award will be accompanied by a $1,000 university scholarship. Requirements for the award are:
- Must be at least 14 years of age by January 1, 2014 but not yet 21 by August 15, 2014.
- A current member in good standing of the Boy Scouts of America (Boy Scout, Venturer, Varsity Team Member, or Explorer).
- A demonstrated desire to make a difference in our community, state, nation, or world through participation in and leadership of at least one project or campaign which increases public awareness in regard to conservation and/or environmental stewardship, demonstrates a commitment toward building a better world through clean-up efforts or responsible use of existing resources.
- Be a resident of West Texas at the time the project or campaign was completed.
