Nearly 300 people packed the main dining room at Midland Country Club on Tuesday night, November 11th, to honor one of the most notable leaders of our community.

Tim Leach, CEO of Concho Resources became the 27th Distinguished Citizen of the Permian Basin. It was an all-star cast of participants and supporters. Tony Best, CEO and Director of SM Energy was the keynote speaker while Jim Henry lead in the presentation of the award. More than three dozen of the top companies in West Texas gathered to recognize Tim, who personifies the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life.

“The tenets that I was raised under, the important things my family taught me, were from the Scout law. And if you don’t think that being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, and kind are (part of) our company, you’re wrong,” said Leach during his acceptance speech.

David Chapman, Scout Executive for Buffalo Trail Council congratulates the Leaches.

“Tim has a deep admiration for those who believe in hard work and persistence. Self-made men are his heroes,” stated Aaron Bedell, Development Director and CFO for Buffalo Trail Council. “His life is a reflection of the principals and character of Scouting.”

The event is the largest fundraiser for the Buffalo Trail Council. This year’s dinner raised slightly more than 2013 or nearly $165,000. That money will make a big difference in the quantity and quality of the Scouting program throughout West Texas over the coming months.

One of the highlights of the event was being able to see a large portion of the previous honorees gathered together in one place at the same time. See the photo below for a full list of those in attendance.
