Grants Pave Way for Camp Improvement

Thanks in large part to a $20,000 grant from the Abell-Hanger Foundation and a $10,000 grant from the Carl B. and Florence E. King Foundation, Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch is well on its way to a much needed improvement to its camping experience.

Early this spring, construction on a larger and improved shower and toilet facility will begin for the purpose of replacing the outdated W.B. Stowe latrine and shower. This popular site is located near the head of the Green Trail which leads directly to the Needle and other beloved backcountry locations. The new facility will feature:

*** Individualized (personal and private) shower areas
*** Full sinks and toilets
*** 24 hour access to electricity and hot water

The availability of the new structure will help decrease bottlenecks at other similar facilities at the camp as well as eliminate long walks to and from the shower.
