ATTENTION ADULT LEADERS! All adults participating in camp at Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch, District Day Camps, or any other BSA Summer camp in Texas MUST read the following information regarding participation in those programs. Click here for the newest information from the State of Texas and the Buffalo Trail Council.

All of the camps that the Buffalo Trail Council owns or uses are available for our Scout units to use for the development of Scouting skills. Reservations for any of our camps are required to be filed at least two weeks prior to the anticipated use. The forms are available on the Forms page.

With the recent acquisition of additional property, the Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch is now approximately 9,500 acres. The rugged terrain, beautiful vistas, and exceptional program opportunities make the Ranch a great camping experience for Scouts. In addition to Summer Camp, there are opportunities to experience planned horse Cavalcades and weekend camping for Scout units. Visit the following pages for more information.

Day Camps in the Buffalo Trail Council this summer were a great success! Thanks to all of you parents, boys, and leaders that came to the Chaparral, Comanche Trail, and Lone Star District day camps. See you all next year!

High Adventure Bases

The National Florida Sea Base is owned and operated by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America to offer unique educational aquatic programs to our members. Located in Islamorada, the heart of the Florida Keys, the near shore reefs offer unparalleled opportunities for long term and short term programs year round. Our new Conference facilities are utilized for youth and adult Scouting Conferences and non-Scouting groups when available.

Northern Tier National High Adventure – You are trekking into a northern wilderness explored by few people. From June to September, Northern Tier offers Scouts and Venturers the world’s best wilderness canoeing. Beginning in December, you may participate in the challenging cold-weather camping program called Okpik (OOk’ pick). The Northern Tier offers many adventures, each geared to the goals and desires of your group. Come to the Northern Tier for an unforgettable journey through the heart and soul of Canoe Country.

Philmont Scout Ranch is a national camping area, owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. Philmont is large, comprising 137,493 acres or about 215 square miles of rugged mountain wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) range of the Rockies. 32 staffed camps and 50 unstaffed camps are operated by the ranch. Philmont has high mountains which dominate rough terrain with an elevation ranging from 6,500 to 12,441 feet.
